ALYTON is a Finnish ensemble collected especially for preparing “Stream of Life” with its international premiere at XPOSITION ´O´ 2005. Dancers Susanna Nurminen and Leo Lenkola were born in Finnish Lapland under the night of the midnight sun. They took their first dance steps in the same dance school and later on, after graduation, they performed together around Europe. The visual artist of the group, Derick Ann Wee Meng, was born in Malaysia but is currently living and working in Finland.

Susanna Nurminen , MA in Dance, graduated from The Theatre Academy of Finland, Department of Dance in 1993. Susanna has worked as a dance teacher and dancer in her home town Rovaniemi and other Scandinavian cities. She has also worked as a dancer in the Barents Dance Ensemble performing throughout the Barents region. (Barents region includes the northern parts of Finland, Sweden, Norway and Russia).

 

Leo Lenkola , Ph.D. in Dance, graduated from Hamilton University, USA in 2000. He has worked as dance teacher, choreographer and dancer in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Spain, Hungary and Greenland. He is currently performing with the Finnish National Opera.

Derick Ann Wee Meng , BA in Clothing Studies, graduated from The Hong Kong Poly University in 1998. He has worked as fashion designer, theatre costume designer and visual artist in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Finland. As a visual artist he has taken care of the costumes, make over and light and visual planning of “Stream of Life”.
