Congratulatory Message by Ms Penny Low
It is a pleasure to celebrate with Odyssey Dance Theatre its 4th biennial Xposition ‘O’ Contemporary Dance Fiesta. Congratulations to ODT for bringing together distinguished artists and dance companies from over 10 countries since 2000. I am glad that the company’s bold vision to establish a vibrant contemporary dance hub in Asia has sustained over the years and successfully stood the test of time. Through the establishment of a strong international network, ODT can now reap the fruits of its eight years of hard work; reaching out to audiences in Singapore while forging close ties and diplomatic relations with international artists and their embassies. In the course of human development, arts, and in particular, dance, have been a common and integral grain that cuts across all cultures, gender and age – whether in good times or bad times. It has served not just as an avenue of expression, but also a form of therapy, creative source, non-verbal communication, as well as cultural exchange that has served to enlarge the common space that the globalised villages share. By presenting artists from India, Singapore, South Korea and United Kingdom in 2007, Xposition ‘O’ continues to make a significant impact on performing arts and in cross border cultural exchange. I look forward to the performance of Danny’s newest full-length work ‘The Story Begins’’, at Xposition ‘O’, which is already making international touring arrangements. I wish ODT every success in Xposition ‘O’ Contemporary Dance Fiesta 2007, and many more outstanding dance performances in the future. Have a wonderful evening at Xposition ‘O’ 2007.
