Message by Guest of Honour

I would like to convey my warm congratulations to Odyssey Dance Theatre on its success in putting contemporary dance on stage at its fourth biennial Xposition ‘O’ Contemporary Dance Fiesta.

Odyssey Dance Theatre has played a pioneering role in promoting contemporary dance in an age when people tend to be more inclined towards popular culture. Thanks to the efforts of Odyssey Dance Theatre, contemporary dances have successfully gained ground and a sizeable audience in Singapore and this region enjoy them.

At this year’s event, it has partnered with OnStage Arts Management of Korea and showcased works by Korea’s talented choreographers. This is the third time that Korean artists are actively participating at this festival, which reinforces the existing tradition of close cooperation between Singapore and Korea in performing arts.

I sincerely hope that the cultural bond between Odyssey Dance Theatre and Korean artistes continues to grow with time. Nelson Mandela had recently remarked that sports can change the world. It is my belief that arts and culture can also change the world in the age of globalization.

I applaud the endeavours of Mr. Danny Tan, Director of Odyssey Dance Theatre, and wish him and his troupe the very best.
