Since its establishment
in 1996 in Seoul by JOH Seongjoo and PARK Hobin, Dance Company
J o B a c has been constantly growing up as one of the most promising
dance companies in Korea. The name of company 'J o B a c' is
amalgamation of two co-directors, JOH and PARK, in accordance
with the original pronunciation in Korean. They work both as choreographers
and dancers in the company.
Most of their works focused not only on movements, but also on
the new form and structure of choreography. With the simple and
psychological trends of both visible and invisible structures,
have J o B a c's special interests on human beings of today
beingtransformed into some unique styles of dance pieces which
make J o B a c a most distinguished dance company
in Korea.

PARK Hobin started
to dance in 1986 while he majored in acting at his college.
In 1994, PARK was awarded as 'Best Young Choreographer' with his
trio piece Death of a Poet. He was granted a scholarship from
the Korean Culture & Arts Foundation, which enabled him to
study and work in France between 1995~1996. During his stay in
France, his solo work L'oiseau la t te pleine was invited by Swedish
Cultural Centre in Paris and Open Theatre Dance Festival in Athens,
Greece. Since he came back to Seoul in 1996, has PARK been leading
J o B a c showing his vigorous energy of creation.
His major choreographic works include Chameleon, Vanished into
a darkroom ('97), Orpheus Syndrome('98), Secrets of Green Scorpion
('98), Corona I -Ruminated Memory ('99), Death of a Poet, 1999
('99). With his solo piece, Corona I -Ruminated Memory, has he
been invited to Yokohama ST Spot in Japan in February, 1999. And
in February, 2000, this piece is again to be invited to Art Sphere
Theatre in Tokyo, Japan. In April 1999, PARK reproduced one of
his most successful works, Death of a Poet with a new title, Death
of a Poet,1999 which was invited to Seoul Arts Centre. In July,
1999, PARK was awarded a grant of MAMPIST Scholarship by Samsung
Foundation of Culture, the most prestigious in its kind in Korea
sponsored by Samsung Conglomerate Group, provides him with an
opportunity to work as a guest artist in dance companies in France
from 2000 to 2001.
