Theatre & various public
venues in Singapore
This coming October, Odyssey
Dance Theatre Ltd will proudly present a major dance event
in Singapore - XPOSITION 'O' CONTEMPORARY DANCE FIESTA 2003.
After its resounding success in
its inaugural fiesta (November 2001) which was participated by
reputable & established dance organizations such as Expressions
Dance Company (Australia), Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts
and LASALLE-SIA Repertory Dance Company, this biennial event
will return with another 12 DAYS of professional performances,
master classes, dance workshops & fringe events by ODT and
other international dance bodies from the Philippines, Korea
and USA.
With strong and continued international
presence in a major local dance event, the public can expect to
see lots of synergy, participation, cultural exchanges
and dance appreciation for the local and international contemporary
dance in this biennial event.
THE
CATALYST FOR DANCE PROVOCATION
XPOSITION
'O' will continue to place strong emphasis on
(1) professional dance-making, (2) distinctive
choreography, (3) dance theatre
and (4) its impact on the local and regional dance scenes.
ODT will present its acclaimed full-length
repertoire - 'THE ORIGINS'. With warm reviews received
from the local critics, 'THE ORIGINS' will be one
sensual & stimulating full-length work that shows the compelling
fusion of contemporary dance with Asian traditional elements,
in the creation of another cultural perspective and leading it
to a new aesthetic on an international platform.
THE
STRAITS TIMES on 'THE ORIGINS'
'
this was a company that has indeed danced during the evening
with
strong discipline and technical conviction, staying wisely
within its current technical boundaries while at the same time
dancing with the fullest fervour of which it was capable.'
'The company's
sheer prolific drive was proudly evident'
THE ARTS
MAGAZINE on Odyssey Dance Theatre
'The artistic director of Odyssey Dance Theatre, Danny Tan, has
to be congratulated on Xposition 'O' Contemporary Dance Fiesta
2001

and students for a series of performances, workshops and master
classes in Singapore.'
'
one
could not help but notice the discipline of the dancers - which
showed through in their performances and impressive technique
Odyssey Dance Theatre has been aptly named
'
THE BUSINESS
TIMES on Odyssey Dance Theatre
'As a fledging dance company, Odyssey Dance Theatre is worthy
of commendation, not just in its choreography, but especially
for how it has managed to orchestrate the more 'professional'
dynamics of a performance - lights, music and publicity material.'
Four other international dance companies
from the Philippines, Korea and USA will join ODT in this major
dance event in Singapore. These companies will be performing acclaimed
works that had premiered at their home countries.
ODT's very own YOUNG ARTISTS
